WOW! As I try and reflect back on this journey, I think of the 343 firefighters that have lost their lives, plus the countless civilians and military personnel over the years as well. It is an honor for ProGold to be part of this and many other events such as the Wounded Warrior rides, Veteran’s Day ride, and the countless other events and rides with ProGold Extreme and ProLink. The Freedom Ride covered over 1200 miles in 15 Days on two wheels for one cause with NO broken chains or creaks thanks to the ProGold Extreme Lube. What a great day it was when the Aarons Freedom Ride team got to meet up with the 343 Ride of 36 Firefighters out of NY for 343 miles to PA, Washington, DC and NY. It was an awesome meeting of the two groups. Yes, ProGold stepped up to the plate and took care of each of the 343 riders’ needs with ProLink.
Each and every night, the Freedom Ride support crew was there for us…making sure we were eating well, getting our clothes washed, giving massages, washing and tuning up our bikes, making arrangements for the next day, and countless other support (i.e. supplying me with choc milk). Thanks goes out to the incredible support from these folks as well.
Every morning as we got ready to depart on sparkling bikes washed with ProGold Bike Wash, it was an honor to put on the Aarons Freedom Ride kit and get in front of the camera and ride for a greater purpose. Thank you, Aarons! Please remember those that are no longer with us either by bike accident, by the events of 9-11, or the wars around the globe as we ride as one nation to honor those that have fallen.
WOW! ProGold Extreme has been over 700 miles of the entire Blue Ridge Parkway. There were only a couple of flats, a rear derailleur issue, a problem with a bottom bracket, and some minor scrapes for the 12 brave Freedom Riders. The ProGold Extreme has been tested and passed each and every 80-100mile day thrown its way over the length of the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a great job to all of the riders that are representing this great country. Every night, the ProGold Degreaser/BikeWash is being used on all bikes to take the grime off and then the bikes are tuned up, thanks to the best mechanic in the world, Alan Grove. OH YEAH!!
Well, as the ProGold Tour/Freedom Ride rolls into Washington, D.C. this week and then up to New York City for the 10th anniversary of 9/11, you can get in on the photo contest if you’re lucky. Just visit www.Progoldmfr.com for all of the details. Congratulations again to all of the riders and support folks making this historic event possible. http://www.freedomride2011.com
Talking about all Things ProGold & Freedom Ride 2011
Hangin’ out in Nashville, TN in the ProGold van in the rain down by the river, I have had some time to think about what this quest to Canada has been all about. I have heard from many of you in the cycling world during the tour and it appears the consensus is that ProGold Xtreme Lube and ProGold Bike Wash/Degreaser is for real and doesn’t get any better. Really, as I also reflect and get closer to Atlanta, I want to send a personal thank you to each and every one of you that have housed me, fed me, let me use their shower, had me watch their kids, and last but not least, washed my dirty kits . Thank you so much for your hospitality.
Since my last blog update, I returned to the States in PA, OH, KY, and TN…not bad for a ProGold tour. While driving through OH, I got to stop at the Bicycle Museum of America where I brought a gallon of ProGold Bike Wash so they could wash their collection of over 900 bikes. What a great sight! It really is a must-see side spur if you get a chance (pictures will follow later). While in Louisville, KY, I rode two mountain bike rides and one road ride, plus, I had the chance to meet the folks from the KYMBA. Super job by that organization and I would like to thank them for the great trails at Waverly and Cherokee Parks. The shops that I have visited have been thoroughly pleased with the great new products that ProGold offers, so check them out online www.http://www.progoldmfr.com/ and then go demand to have some in your local bike shop!!! Just Sayin’!
Well, I just wanted to write this blog and say thanks to those of you that are reading, helping, and calling as I make my way around this beautiful country of North America EH! Look for the Progold tour to continue on August 24 with the Freedom Ride 2011 as we make our way to New York City from Atlanta, GA by bike for the tenth anniversary of September 11.
